KMC Resume Fairfield Inn’s NW Miami Project

Miami, Fla. (March 2008) - KMC Corporation today announced that Fairfield Inn’s future NW Miami location is back on track after undergoing extreme unforeseen conditions regarding an underground river located beneath the construction site. The project, which initially broke ground late 2007, was put on hold to deal with the water issue."We worked very hard to work with the difficult conditions and I believe that KMC really stepped up to the plate on this one,” said Charlie Flenniken, president of KMC’s Shell Division. After ultimately conquering the obstacles set before the team, the project is now on track to finish the job as scheduled. KMC had to pump the water from the underground river to the 836 Canal, located approximately a mile away. As there was no ways to well point the job, KMC planned to remove the underground river by dewatering twelve million gallons in an 8-hour period. The future Fairfield Inn, which is in line with one of the runways located at Miami International Airport, has been set for completion June 15, 2008.
