KMC Corporation Reaches Out To Imperial House

in Wake of Hurricane Noel

Construction Company Aids Oceanside Condominiums

PALM BEACH, Fla. (November 3, 2007) – Winds exceeding 25 mph roared through South Florida’s shores today in the wake of Tropical Storm Noel. Beach erosion became Noel’s driving force heavy surf crushed a 10-foot retaining wall built originally to protect the foundation of the Imperial House Condominiums located next to Lantana’s Public Beach. However, at the beginning of October, the building had been significantly damaged due to severe weather. The resulting damage left the building foundation defenseless against the grinding waves.

KMC Corporation President Ron Finger was busy working on renovations and new construction at The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach nearby when he was informed of the situation. Finger promptly banded together a team to aid the Lantana Apartment complex. The major construction company gathered its resources and after acquiring emergency permits, the crew was able to go to work. Crews scrambled to build a temporary barricade before the expected high-tide which was due to arrive Wednesday night. Using concrete blocks, each weighing approximately six thousand pounds, the rescue crew began construction to protect the building from the pounding waves. “We are just glad to see our resources were able to be mobilized in time to help,” Finger explained.

Many of South Florida’s sandy beaches are critically eroded, which is a level of erosion that threatens significant developments. In fact, 31 of the 45 miles of Palm Beach County’s beaches are currently at the critical erosion level.
